I met Aubree during a season of my life when I was still figuring out what I wanted my future to look like. I was an intern in college, learning, working, and trying to soak up as much as I could from the people around me. I had no idea then that one of the people I met during that time would become one of my best friends—or that I would eventually have the privilege of photographing so many chapters of her family’s life.


That is the funny thing about life. Sometimes the people you meet in one season end up being the people you carry with you into so many others.


Aubree and I just clicked. Somewhere between work, conversations, laughs, and everything in between, she became someone I could count on and someone I genuinely love having in my life. And, of course, you can't be close with Aubree without becoming pretty attached to her kids, too.


I have gotten to watch them grow up through my camera in a way that feels pretty special.


The first time I photographed the Lotts, they were a family of three. Then came a maternity session, documenting the anticipation of adding one more little person to their crew. And now, I get to photograph them as a family of four.


Looking through their photos from different seasons is one of those things that makes you stop and realize just how quickly time moves. The faces change. The kids get bigger. Personalities get bigger. Families grow.


And the Lotts have always brought so much personality into my camera.


They are goofy. They are loud. They love hard. They have the kind of energy that makes a session feel less like a perfectly posed family photo shoot and more like a glimpse into who they actually are. There is always a little chaos, a lot of laughing, and usually something that makes us all crack up.


Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.


Because when I photograph them, I don't just see four people standing in front of my camera. I see the years behind the photos. I see where they started, how much their family has changed, and all of the little pieces of their story that I have been lucky enough to witness along the way.


And I think that is one of the coolest parts of being a photographer.


You get to meet people, but sometimes you also get to stay long enough to see the next chapter.


The Lott family is one of those families for me. They are people I genuinely adore—not just for the memories I get to photograph, but for who they are when the cameras aren't out. Their humor, their hearts, their craziness, and the way they love one another are some of the things that make them so easy to love.


So here they are: the Lotts, now a family of four.


Still goofy. Still full of heart. Just with one more little personality in the mix.


And I couldn't be more thankful that I get to keep a front-row seat to it all, camera in hand.
